Our First Grain box delivery

Welcome to our first Grain box delivery, we are excited to be launching our new plastic free grain delivery service and want to show you what is in the first boxes we are sending out!

Each month we send a selection of grains direct to your door, minus the plastic wrap you’ll find it packaged in across supermarkets in the uk!

In our boxes this month:

  • Italian wholegrain penne pasta
  • British Organic whole Fava beans
  • British Blue peas
  • British Camelina seeds
  • British Organic Quinoa

How to Cook

Italian Organic wholegrain penne pasta: Cooking time 8-9 mins

British Organic whole Fava beans: Soak for 8 hours, rinse, bring to the boil then cover and simmer for an hour, (until tender)

or soak for 4 or 5 hours and pressure cook for 30-40 minutes.

You can pre soak and then freeze in portions.

Whole Blue Peas: Use for soups, mushy peas, curries or stews. Soak for 5-6 hours, rinse, bring to the boil then cover and simmer for 45-50 minutes (until tender.)

or cover with water and bring to the boil for 10 minutes, remove from the heat, soak for an hour then simmer as above,

Storage: store in a cool dry place

May contain small stones.

British Camelina seeds: Sprinkle onto Salads, or add to smoothies.

British Organic wholegrain Quinoa: Ideal for salads and soups.

Rinse, cover with 1.5-2 parts water or stock for each 1 part quinoa, bring to the boil and simmer on a very low heat for 15 minutes, the grains will absorb the water and grow to 2-3 times their normal size.

About your box

Italian Organic wholegrain fusilli pasta: Grown in Italy the home of pasta, this whole durum wheat semolina pasta, is produced with a mixture of grains carefully chosen at each new crop to ensure a highly nutritious product with an optimal cooking resistance. The grain used to produce the whole wheat fusilli, is planted directly in the fields of the IRIS supply chain. The semolina pasta integral high in protein and high in fiber. Traditional methodology is used in preparing the pasta, the drying is carried out with low temperatures and long times, therefore without damaging the precious contents of the fusilli. Ingredients: durum whole wheat, water. Allergens: gluten, may contain traces of eggs. This is an organic product.

British Organic whole Fava beans: Low fat, high protein, this is Britains original bean, not only does it taste good it is also good for the soil, you can use these to make your own baked beans, in stews, curries or on salads.

Whole blue peas: This are grown in the Uk they are the same pea as the split green pea but have the skins left on, they are firm but tasty with plenty of bite and great for use in curries. They are low in fat, high in Protein and fibre and 50g counts as one of your 5 a day!

British Camelina seeds: High in Omega 3 oils, high in fibre and high in protein. These seeds are rich in antioxidents such as vitamin E, It is a golden seed known as “Gold of Pleasure”, and has been grown in the UK for thousands of years, Grown in Essex by Peter Fairs.

British Organic wholegrain Quinoa: High in Protein, high in fibre, Grown by Andrew Williams in suffolk.
